What is Yoga?

Yoga is not just a physical exercise; it is a holistic approach to health and wellness that integrates the body, mind, and spirit. The ancient practice of yoga originated in India over five thousand years ago and is deeply rooted in the concept of union. Through the performance of various postures, known as asanas, while mindful of breathing techniques called pranayamas, individuals can cultivate a sense of harmony within themselves.

The beauty of yoga lies in its ability to target specific muscles, joints, organs, and body systems with each pose, offering a wide range of benefits. When synchronized with breathing exercises, yoga becomes a transformative tool for maintaining both mental and physical well-being. It not only enhances physical strength and flexibility but also nurtures inner peace and self-awareness.

By embracing yoga as a regular practice, individuals embark on a journey of self-discovery and self-improvement. It serves as a gateway to a more balanced and fulfilling life, promoting overall health and vitality. Through yoga, individuals can cultivate a deep connection with themselves and the world around them, fostering a sense of wholeness and harmony in their lives.

This is how I accompany you

In my classes I encourage you to maintain the posture while focusing on your breath and what arises in the moment. This practice helps cultivate patience, acceptance, and receptivity. On the other hand, I invite you to make fluid movements to feel and release tension from both body and mind.

I hold deep respect for all my students, urging them to listen to themselves and tap into the profound wisdom of their bodies. This helps them honour their rhythms and boundaries.

My instructions are clear, simple and precise, emphasizing the importance of coordinating movement with breath.

The approach

I focus on the body, paying attention to the posture, not as something static, but alive and in motion. I consider the interconnectedness of all parts involved in the posture and I view the spine as an energy regulator, using breath as a reference point for movement, relaxation, and growth.

When vitality and awareness flow through the spine, the entire body relaxes, opens up, and aligns naturally. This leads to improved comfort and ease of posture. A fresh perspective arises: movement originates from the spine, emphasizing being present and easing into the moment rather than focusing solely on posture. It involves listening, flowing, and harmonizing with the body.
